Alabio duck is a dual-purpose breed appearing in Indonesia. It is also known as Itik Alabio. It is a popular duck breed in Indonesia and densely populated in South Kalimantan.
The Alabio duck is considered to be due to cross-breeding of Indonesian ducks and duck. The breed was named Alabio by Saleh Puspo, and the sub-district that they had been reared in is known as Alabio.
Alabio ducks are generally of brownish color with white spots and a line pattern around the eyes. Ducks and the drake are distinct in color. The studs and the drakes have a brown head and ahead with vivid blue or green color, respectively. There have been cross-breeding of Alabio duck.
Which affects it is productivity, the color of shank, beak, and feathers from the original Alabio ducks. Original Alabio duck has cream feathers. And shanks and their beak are yellow, bright orange or yellow.
On a typical, Alabio drakes weigh about 1.8-2.0 kg and ducks about 1.6-1.8 kg.
