The Chinese Black Pied cows are a dairy breed that is raised mainly for milk production. The strain is known as Chinese Back and White cows and from China, as its name implies.
It was developed from cross-breeding with local cows of black and white dairy cows of different breeds erased as the 1870s from Canada, Japan, Germany, Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Substantial American Holstein-Friesians were erased following the Second World War, along with also the Dutch Black Pied inventory from the Netherlands.
These at first gave rise to larger and more compact forms within the breed that was Chinese, however, these can be distinguished. A herdbook for the breed was established in 1983 and it records each of pedigree cows.
Currently, the breed is dispersed throughout China and is the most common and numerous dairy cattle breed there.
