The Lowline cattle are a small-sized multipurpose breed of cows.
They’re used for meat production, reveal purpose, etc.. They are also famous for raising pets.
The Lowline cattle are naturally docile and so are of very great behavior. They are managed and also have the temperament.
The breed is currently remarkably well known in the USA and used as pets and suitable for revealing by kids. And their popularity is increasing throughout the USA.
They are relatively smaller in size than different cattle breeds, and they’re generally polled.
The Lowline cattle are modest-sized animals. They seem to be but are not dwarfs.
They are smaller in size without having a particular dwarfing gene. The Lowline cattle were specially selected for those traits.
They are generally black in color and are naturally polled.
The mature cows on the average weight of about 320 kg. And the typical bodyweight of the bulls is about 400 kg. But both bulls and cows might weight longer.
History
The Lowline cattle breed was created by black Aberdeen Angus cows, from the sailors. The breed was developed as a part of a research project for exploring the implications of selection for growth rate initiated.
85 cows with reduced expansion rates were chosen initially from the Trangie Angus herd for setting the original ‘Lowline’ herd.
These 85 cows were joined into yearling bulls. And those yearling bulls were selected for reduced growth rate from birth to yearling age.
Highline or A high growth rate line and a line or Controline were established at precisely the same moment.
This distinctive experimental method was chosen to create a rapid divergence in growth rate, through traditional within-herd selection.
In 1929 the first inventory was stolen from Canada, with some Scottish and USA creatures added in succeeding years.
When the experiment ended in 1992 the Lowline cattle herd had been offered to breeders. The Australian Lowline Cattle Association was formed by those breeders.
The strain is currently bred in many nations like China, Canada, United States, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
