History

Mark Youngs wished to create a bunny strain. And by the crossing of commercial typed rabbit, through the late 1940s and early 1950s fawn rabbits were finally produced by him.

Soon he enlisted the help of many ‘co-breeders’ and they developed their sunny bunnies into a breed. And the breed is named by them as ‘Washingtonian’.

The’Washingtonian’ bunny breed was initially presented in the American Rabbit Breeders Association conference in 1953. And the title of the breed has been changed to Palomino.

Despite some difficulties, the Palomino rabbit has been realized by the American Rabbit Breeder’s Association in 1957 and was approved as a distinct breed.

The Palomino bunny had been exported to Europe. And from the 1960s the breed was common and gaining recognition. But the Palomino rabbits are not yet recognized by the British Rabbit Council.
