The Highland cattle are used for beef production. The breed derives from Scotland’s cows and it is known for the Highland region.
Although the first history of this breed is not well listed, it had been standardized and improved during the 1800s.
Highland cattle breed information
Highland cows are medium sized animals with long wavy coats.
They are usually yellow, white, red, brindle, black, silver or even dun in color. Both cows and bulls have horns, and their horns are of sized.
Average body elevation of the Highland cows is about 90-106 cm, and the bulls are typically in the range of both 106-120 cm.
The typical body fat of the bulls is around 800 kg. Along with the cows on weight approximately 500 kg.

They’re hardy creatures that are cold. They are excellent grazers and their skill in foraging for food allows them to survive in steep mountain regions where they both graze and eat crops that lots of other cattle avoid.
For discovering plants that are buried they can even dig. The Highland cows are of superior behavior and have a docile temperament.
The cows are very protective of the young, exceptional mothers and pretty excellent milkers. Milk of these cows is of superior quality with a high butterfat content.
Presently the breed is mostly used for beef production. A number of these animals is growing.
History
The Highland cattle were created from two types of one red now-extinct cows and others. The cows were brought to Britain by farmers.
Progress of the breed was made through selection and it never needed any openings from other cattle breeds.
The first herdbook for the breed established in 1884, and it is one of the oldest registered breed of cows. The Highland cows became known in England and they have been occasionally also called cattle.
They were first imported to North America from the 1880s and importations have continued throughout the 1900s. The Highland cows are found throughout North America in Addition to in Australia, Europe and South America.
