The Oberhasli goat is a breed of goat developed in the hills of Switzerland. It utilized for milk production and is likewise known as Oberhasli Brienzer or Swiss Alpine.
Oberhasli goat derives from the sub-type of Chamois Colored goat in the Bernese Oberland’s Oberhasli area in central Switzerland.

What are oberhasli goats used for?
Oberhasli goats are among the very milk goat breeds. They are kept for milk production. They are acceptable for commercial dairy.
Oberhasli goat is very gentle and is of friendly behavior. It’s an animal that is really active and alert. The does are excellent milk manufacturers.
Normally, an Oberhasli doe can produce up to 2000 liters of milk per lactation. The strain can be useful for increasing as pets.
Oberhasli goats were imported to the United States in the early 1900s. But those goats were not bred and the bloodlines were lost. And herds maintained and were not created until 1936. Five Chamois Colored hens were imported into the United States.
And all purebred Oberhasli goats in the USA descend. The breed interbred with the Alpine goats of different types, also was originally referred to as the Alpine.
However a breeder’s association was formed along with the strain name Oberhasli was embraced. Registration records were separated by the Alpines and a herdbook based in the subsequent year.
An association of goat was formed in about 1977 called ‘the Oberhasli Breeders of America’. The American Dairy Goat Association accepted as a breed the Oberhasli goat. There’s a version of the goat strain, which can be named Oberian or Mini Oberhasli goat.
