Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel)
This adorable little dog was chosen for its childlike features and friendly demeanor. They have been popular among England’s royalty for hundreds of years, and they are still popular in the United Kingdom.

In the United States, they are still uncommon and command a higher price, and given the breed’s plethora of health issues, that may remain the case. They are afflicted with heart disease, spinal cord complications, and hip dysplasia. They’ve been bred to have brachycephalic features (a muzzle that’s shorter than it’s wide) and as a consequence, they have breathing issues.

Despite being a spaniel, it is a toy dog that comes in four different colors. The chestnut and white dogs are my favorites, but they also come in black and brown, ruby (almost always chestnut), and tricolor (black and white and tan).
