Damascus goats have a unique skull, scary underbite, a Roman nose, and custom trimmed horns, these goats look like a monster goat. The Damascus goat is a breed of domestic goat generally used for milk production.
It’s mainly increased in Lebanon, Cyprus, and Syria. The strain can be known by various other names such as Aleppo, Baladi, Chami, Damascene, Halep, or even Shami.
The Damascus goat is a native breed of the Middle East, and it’s been increased in big herds across the region.
The Damascus goats are big in proportion and are of the Nubian type. They are normally red or brown in color, but may also be seen in pied or grey color. They are wavy.
They can be either horned or polled. Fully grown Damascus goats possess a very long neck and long legs. Their head is comparatively small.
Like other goats, the Damascus bucks are bigger and thicker compared to does.
The bucks weight approximately 70-90 kg. And the weight of the does is about 50-60kg.
The British in some time in the nineteenth Century exported this goat. They had been shot to Cyprus in which they were bred and raised large amounts. It was during this period that the breed picked the name “Damascus”.
The Damascus goat was cited in many sins of Arabic literature.
In fact, the breed appears in the religions and folklore of the region. Due to being noble and having characteristics that were striking, the Damascus goat has been used for creating other goat breeds.
And there’s been interest in the genetics and breeding of this goat.
A Damascus goat called Qahr won the first prize for the “Most Beautiful Goat” name at the Mazayen al-Maaz contest in Riyadh on June 13, 2008.

Damascus goat is a dairy goat breed and mainly utilized for milk production. But they’re appreciated not only for meat but also for milk.
The Damascus goat is also called being noble and having striking characteristics.
They are quite beautiful and utilized in the creation of many other goat breeds that are popular.
The does if given the appropriate care, can give birth of three to four children per kidding. The does are pretty good milk producers.
On average the does can produce up to 1.5 liter milk daily.
The milk of the Damascus goat has been known for being exceptionally easy to digest for anybody who might have problems digesting more normal dairy products. They are of good behavior and have a calm temperament.
